Things I noticed on my road trip to New York
Gas is totally expensive in Oregon. In Nebraska, 87 octane gas was $2.69/gal. Oregon, the same gallon of gas is $2.89/gallon
The only reason the price diff ? Market.
Which means the companies know they can sodomize Oregonians for 20 cents more a gallon and get away with it.
The roads in Wyoming...The interstate has potholes. Enough said.
A Ford Taurus is very smelly after 3 days.
In Nebraska, the speed limit is 75 mph, but it's not enforced. Police cars tailgate you for going only 75... then blast by at 100 mph.
Ohio is very muggy. I couldn't breathe outside of the car or a building with air conditioning.
I am completely insane driving to New York with only 1 week of vacation.

All of the political chicanery
It doesn't seem to matter to some that the economy is totally in the toilet. Or that real people are suffering real pain. To some it's all about demonizing the bogeyman du jour. The talking points are copy paste/fill in the blank.
One day it's homosexuals/muslims/immigrants. Next day it's Jews/blacks/liberals.
Copy pasting directly from an English translation of Mein Kampf would require more creativity than the Fox news sound bites that these people toss up as arguments.
They said exactly the same garbage in the 1980's.
That's why democracy does not work. People are too stupid to manage a government and the changes in the world that that government has to handle.
A monarchy wouldn't be much different , but you only have ONE dumb ass making the decisions. Our so-called democracy has 250 million dumb asses making decisions with only half of the information --- the half their party leaders spoon feed them because they cannot handle the information overload. Or they cannot handle actually seeing the other side of an issue.
People are sheep, they continue to be sheared by the privileged class. So while the undeserving wealthy continue stealing the future wealth of the nation, the people are obsessed with "celebrities", people with other skin color, people who talk funny (non-English speakers think you talk funny also), and people who do weird things in their bedroom.
Let the gays marry. Opens up new industry, gets money flowing. also removes a few of them from flaunting in the streets (although heterosexuals flaunt it in the street also... get a room already)
And Sarah Palin, your 15 minutes of fame expired 45 minutes ago, and the 1980's called and want their hairdo back.
